SO ready for Spring!

I am getting really spoiled with the beautiful weather lately. It makes me really itch for springtime. I know that we will have cold snaps still in our future, but I would be so happy if it could just stay in the 70's! We have really enjoyed some outdoor time.
Last weekend, my parents were in town. Here are Mimi and Char before church on Sunday.

New favorite

We took this picture last week and it is definitely my new favorite! This was her first time to have her hair done in pigtails! Love it!

Filled with Love

Last Christmas, when I was pregnant with Charlotte, Mark's Aunt DD and cousin Debi gave me a very special gift. They passed on a dress that Mark's grandmother (pictured below) made for Debi when she was little. They have saved the dress all these years and gave it to us on loan so that Charlotte could have a chance to wear this special dress.
This past Sunday Charlotte wore the dress to church. It fit her perfectly and she looked so pretty in it. We got so many compliments at church that day. I kept telling everyone the "story of the dress". It is so special to have something that was handmade with love and passed on in love.
Here is Debi in the dress. She was 2 when she wore it. Wilmama (Mark's grandmother) also made Debi a matching dress for her doll.
Here is Charlotte with her Daddy.
On a side note, when we first put the dress on Charlotte she kept shaking her hands trying to get the lace off. After a few minutes she got used to the lace around her wrist and didn't mess with it after that.

10 months old

Our sweet girl is 10-months-old! Double digits. I don't know why that sounds so old to me. I guess because by the end of this month I better start planning her 1st birthday! She grows and changes every single day. This month has been filled with so much learning and so many new tricks! Her 10 month stats are:
Weight: 19 lbs. 14 oz. (50%)
Height: 28 3/4 in. (70%)

Here are some things I want to remember about Charlotte at this age:
- can wave hello, but she actually waves at herself
- can say dada and actually knows who that is. I told Mark he "won". We are officially calling "dada" her first word
- loves her small, pink "love a lot" carebear
- stands by herself for extended periods of time
- walks while pushing her walking toy
- pulls the blanket over her head and plays peek-a-book when we say "Where's Charlotte?"
- opens her mouth really wide when you say "open" (all of my dentist friends and family will love this one!)
- still only has 2 bottom teeth
- gives high-fives
- dances anytime she hears music
- is getting much better at feeding herself
- can use her sippy cup

Keeping warm

Charlotte is reading by the fire on this cold day. We are out of school again. Crazy, I know! We finally got the fireplace cleaned out and this is the first time we have ever used it. Very exciting for this girl who grew up with a Dad that loved to build fires!

One of my favorites

Each month Barnes and Noble online features a story read by the author. This month it is the book Pinkalicious, by Victoria Kann and Elizabeth Kann. This is one of my favorite children's books! It is actually now an entire series. I thought you (and your children) might enjoy it, too! Happy listening!

Snow time

I always love to go out when it snows, so we got Charlotte all bundled up for some snow time. It didn't last very long because there isn't much for a 9-month-old to do in the snow. But, for me, it's always worth it! This week we only had to go to school on Monday! Between the ice, freezing temperatures, rolling black-outs, and snow, school was closed Tuesday-Friday! It was the craziest twist of events, especially since just a week ago it was in the 70's. We may never get 4 days off in a row again, so we are trying to enjoy the time at home. We are also crossing our fingers that we don't have to make up all of those days!

Charlotte isn't so sure about this cold white stuff.
Daddy trying to convince her that it is okay.
She never was convinced! But, at least there wasn't any crying!
Here is a video of Char playing inside on our cold days.

Again!

We are all very excited to be home another day for "bad weather". However, we can't help but ask - again? And - how much of this will we have to make up?

Our day off

Yesterday we woke up to find out that school had been closed for the day do to bad weather.

Charlotte was so excited when we told her the news.
We were all so glad we didn't have to go out in this.
Then we shot a little basketball
and played with some other toys.
Charlotte took some time to show her favorite bear the icy outdoors.
Then she played in her room.
Char played some peek-a-boo with Daddy. For the first time, she pulled the blanket up and down over her own face!
She lounged and watched some Praise Baby.
Then we ended the day with some reading.
We really had a great day at home together. We are also home today!

Here is Char playing peek-a-boo.

Celebrating

Last weekend, we got to celebrate the upcoming arrival of the newest Chamblee! Little Beau is set to arrive in March. Justin, Alli, Jake, and Mallory, we love you so much and we can't wait to meet Beau!
I love going to showers because it means I get to spend time with some of my favorite people in the world! I love you girls!
Here is the diaper cake I made for Beau. I had so much fun doing it!
